New Style of Play for City
15 February 2010 11:40:00

Glenn Pennyfather hopes his new style of play will prove the catalyst for a successful climax to the season.

Pennyfather leads his Chelmsford City team into an Essex Senior Cup quarter final match with Aveley, having seen his side go three matches unbeaten in the Blue Square South.

The Clarets’ Head Coach altered his previous tactics during Saturday’s goalless draw with leaders Newport County at the weekend and he could gain further information about its future chances of success against the Ryman League Premier Division outfit at Melbourne as he bids to retain City’s County Cup silverware.

He said: “We did change our game plan against Newport and I think it works better for us so we should start to reap the rewards of that. We’ve come out of our bad patch and put in a creditable second-half performance against Eastleigh and a real tough, battling performance against an in-form Dorchester side to take the three points. Now we’ve drawn against the best side in the league who were big, strong and powerful.”

City are likely to be without a number of players who are nursing knocks sustained in recent bruising league encounters though Pennyfather’s policy of fielding strong sides in this competition will continue.

This match kicks off at the slightly earlier time of 7.30pm due to the possibility of extra-time and penalties if the scores are level after 90 minutes.
