Shaymen`s Poor Run Comes to an End

Chorley had the opportunity to move into second place on their own in the Vanarama National League North on Tuesday night when they travelled across the Pennines to take on an out-of-form FC Halifax Town at The Shay.

The Magpies came into the game having lost just once in eight league games, but in contrast, the Shaymen hadn`t won in ten league and cup games, stretching back to November 15th.

But the form book was turned upside down and the pressure lifted a little on underfire Shaymen boss Billy Heath following a good 2-1 win.

Goals in each half from Matty Kosylo and Richard Peniket sealed FC Halifax Town’s first win in 10 games as they beat high-flying Chorley 2-1 at The Shay.

The home side took a 16th minute lead when recent signing Adam Morgan was tripped by new Chorley keeper Ritchie Branagan.

Matty Kosylo (pictured) sent the former Macclesfield Town custodian the wrong way from the resulting penalty.

And the lead was eventually doubled 11 minutes into the second half when a Kosylo free-kick was headed firmly home by Richard Peniket at the far post.

Chorley pulled themselves back into the game after 68 minutes when skipper Dale Whitham headed home.

And they came close to snatching a point late on through substitute Will Beesley, but the hosts held on for three points which rekindles their challenge for a play-off place.
