Welling United pulled level on points with Eastleigh after the Wings won 3-1 at the Sparshatts Stadium on Wednesday night to move to within three points of the play-off places in Blue Square South.
Welling skipper Jack Parkinson bundled the ball home from close range to give his side the boost of a lead just before half time.
Fifteen minutes from time Eastleigh pulled back on terms when Tony Taggart`s cross was headed home by Richard Gillespie.
But parity lasted barely 4 minutes when Tom Whitnell burst through a static back line, despite claims for offside, and he chipped over on-rushing keeper Billy Lumley.
And as stoppage time approached, the Wings ensured the points went to Kent when Lee Clarke made it 3-1.
